Emile Faurie is Setting the Standard for Safety.
Leading international dressage rider Emile Faurie has recently made a stand for improved rider safety. Following a series of high profile accidents involving dressage riders, notoriously known for not wearing hats, Emile has implemented a ‘hats only’ policy for all riders at Heath Farm his home and training facility.

“The recent accidents in the news have really shocked me and made me consider more seriously the implications of not wearing a hat. Even the most reliable horse can trip or spook and accidents are sometimes inevitable. I don’t know why over the years we have thought dressage was any safer than any of the other disciplines. A lot of dressage horses are extremely hot and can be explosive! My team and I decided it was time to put our safety first and get new hats” explained Emile.

Bill Vero, Technical Director of Gatehouse Hats travelled to Heath Farm to personally fit Emile and all the team with new hats. "We certainly welcome the commitment to responsible head protection for dressage riders and the example it sets for other riders, especially youngsters in the sport. The new Gatehouse F1 helmet is BS EN 1384 approved and we have made it lightweight, comfortable, well ventilated and easy to wear, with modern styling and a choice of fashionable finishes; which all helps make it an attractive option for riders."

Emile went on to say “I had no idea where to start! thank fully I was introduced to Bill Vero of Gatehouse. Bill spent the day with us and fitted us all with new hats. We were all surprised at how comfortable and lightweight the new hats are, we had a good giggle and enjoyed trying on the different styles. Many thanks to Bill who spent a lot of time with each of us to make sure we had the right hat. No excuses now, if you are riding at Heath Farm a hat must be worn”.
